Pacenote terms of use

Pacenote is free, open source and given as is. You decide which calls it listens to, you get consent from the people on them, and you check what the AI says before you rely on it.

These terms cover Pacenote: the Mac app, the recorder and the Cowork skill, with the code at github.com/bodco/live-tips. The website and the rest of PM Control Tower have their own terms.

Licence

The app, the skill and the documentation are released under the MIT licence. You may use, copy, change and share them, also at work, as long as the licence notice stays with copies. If these terms and the MIT licence ever disagree about the code, the MIT licence wins. The models and libraries Pacenote downloads (Whisper, the search and voice models, Python packages) come with their own licences.

As is, beta

Pacenote is a beta built and used by one project manager. It is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, the author is not liable for any loss or damage from using it, including missed or wrong tips, transcription errors, lost transcripts, costs of the AI services it calls, or decisions made during or after a call.

Your responsibility

  • Consent of the people on the call. You are responsible for telling participants that you transcribe the call and use an AI assistant, and for getting their consent where the law, your employer or your client requires it. Do not use Pacenote where recording or transcription is not allowed.
  • AI can be wrong. Tips, summaries and transcripts can mishear names, numbers and terms or miss context. Check them before you say, send or decide anything on their basis.
  • Your accounts and costs. Pacenote uses your own Claude key or Claude account (or another provider’s key), your Notion and your Mac. Their terms, limits and costs apply to you. Set the call and monthly budgets in Settings.
  • Your data and your employer’s rules. Make sure that processing work calls and project files with AI is allowed by your employer and your clients. Keep transcripts and voice prints out of public places.
  • Nothing is sent for you. Pacenote prepares notes and drafts; sending anything to a client is always your own action.

Trademarks

Claude, Notion, Whisper, macOS and other names belong to their owners. Pacenote is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

Changes and contact
